So what are FailSafe^TM Technology, Intuitive Design, and Smart Input^TM?

FailSafe^TM Technology is a technology we have built into all our APPs that helps you understand what is being asked for by the Application and what type of interaction is required from you. There are no screens that simply flash a curser at you or require an input without giving the same words and symbols that are used in your text-book. In addition, each input screen has a Help option providing the formula (if appropriate) and a brief explanation of what is needed and what is going on.

Intuitive Design is actually the architectural design of the APP. After teaching with the TI for 16+ years I’ve noticed there are several common functions that are hidden behind screens and menus which are difficult to find. This is problematic when trying to learn the class material and the graphing calculator at the same time. These hidden functions are sometimes impossible to locate unless someone shows you their hiding place. (e.g. the absolute value function is used quite often when graphing functions, but where’s the absolute value function button on the calculator? There’s not one! - That’s Right! You must first press the button that says MATH but even then you still don’t see absolute value. Next, you’ll have to arrow once to the right to even see the abs option) The technology you use in Math or Stats should not be a stumbling block to learning the material. Therefore all my applications make use of Intuitive Design. You will never need to search for a needed function key.

Smart InputTM is an interactive feature that prevents you from giving the wrong type of input. Each input screen has been designed so that it will only accept input that looks right to begin with. If you enter parameters that seem wrong to the math graphing program, an error message will be returned asking you to check your input before it actually performs the function thus saving you from making careless mistakes and not realizing it until too late!
